#1 I truly do not understand why Putin feels the need to prop up the Soviet state's image. This didn't even happen inside of Russia proper, or territory that Russia has formally claimed (yet). He isn't pretending to be a commie now is he? He obviously doesn't give a crap about any ideology in reality.
