Bolsonaro open to receive US military base in Brazil

[ELUNIVERSAL] The new president of Brazil says he is open to receiving a US military base to counteract Russia's influence in the region.

In the interview with the SBT television station, Bolsonaro said he is concerned about Russia's closeness with the leftist president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.

Russia and Venezuela carried out a joint training mission in the South American country in December. The initiative was criticized by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
