#2 I recall the new model Container Ships, including for LPG and LNG models, are super massive. I recall there was talk about expanding some of ports a few years back to accommodate these larger ships. A pipeline through the canal might be more ideal than expanding canal infrastructure to handle these larger ships.

#3 In WW2 there was a fuel pipeline across Panama , saving the shipping time. That right of way may still exist. For anyone interested in rain forests/ birdwatching etc, the Pipeline Road is recommended. You can be looking into the forest and the upper part of a cargo ship goes through it - surreal.
