#2 What he calls "the Combine" I (and James Kunstler) call "the Blob", a huge amoeboid mass of green slime with long tentacles running mostly through the USA with worldwide extensions. It smells foul and looks worse.

#3 That "landslide victory" was just in the Electoral vote. The margin of votes cast was narrower, but it was still a big win. The confidence and arrogance of the 40-odd % of Blob voters has definitely been shaken.
Our situation reminds me of a fragment of a conversation between myself and an ER patient with a persistent delusion of a radio implanted in his brain years earlier by alien enemies. I gave him a short dose of what Frank Farrelly called 'provocative therapy'. The patient was jarred a bit out of his preoccupation and changed the direction of the conversation when he asked, "Doc, do you think I'm crazy?"
