Israeli media reveals far-reaching cooperation with UAE in illegal occupation of Yemeni archipelago of Socotra

#1 Socotra is an island of incredible biodiversity. I believe even the United States is pledged to its survival (and thus uses this to support the UAE occupation).

#2 Ma’ariv is a small-circulation — less even than Ha’aretz’s 5% — left wing, Hebrew-language newspaper. I don’t know what they’re reporting, but I can’t find anything about an Israel connection to the UAE’s airport being built in the Socotra archipelago in my usual English language sites: Israel Times, the Jerusalem Post, or Ynet. As far as I can tell, the Israel thing is a claim made only by Hodhod Yemen News and Iran.

#4 I’d be very grateful if you could you point us to some open source articles more trustworthy than Hodhod Yemen News, IS. For this kind of thing I only know what I can find in the Rantburg archives and a basic search of the internet. My only personal knowledge about Yemen is when Mr. Wife was offered an assignment there after the two Yemens united in 1990, as country manager for his international consumer products company. The argument was the five years he’d spent working in the Middle East and North Africa, India, and Turkey, and the fact that he’d studied Arabic during that time. He was very, very happy to be able to turn it down as unsuitable for someone with a Jewish wife, which thank goodness was accepted without question.
