#1 I don't buy it.
I've been bitten with damage 3 times, always by small (<30 lbs) dog 'pets'. The biggest threat was infection.

Fortunately I've never been charged by a big (80-120 lb) dog with with damage intent. Well, there was one, in Korea. As he leapt I caught him by the shoulders, thumbs in his armpits, spun and slammed him to the pavement. Knocked him silly.

Trying to fend one off by offering a forearm just makes it a target, even in play. Likely these animals were redeemable before they were destroyed.

#5 If it were just Commander, I’d say it was the dog. When it’s both dogs, the owner is — intentionally or no — maltraining them. Shepherds are smart, aware, and protective, instinctively responding to their human’s feelings and intentions.

It’s true that German shepherds have been overbred, leading to known weaknesses in the strain, but even so.

#7 There is some thought that dogs reflect the personality and behavior of their 'owners'. Why do women carry around those small, nasty, barking, bitchy Chihuahuas? Fashion statement? or a late life substitute for dollies and teddy bears?

Swank. Continuing a tradition dating back to the Middle Ages, when ladies of the manor had docile lapdogs that functioned as hot water bottles when it was cold enough inside to freeze the wine in their goblets.
