#5 They surely know a "conviction" will be thrown out on appeal. It's the felony conviction media headlines they want. A horse that can be ridden for months, possibly years.

#6 My biggest fear is that they know it will be overturned but force a conviction and the judge immediately remands him to prison and bail denial. Much easier to assasinate him in prison.
