Another State Department FU that the military pays for. State has no problem with dribbling military strength around the world for show. Of course the leadership at the Pentagon might grumble but they use it as an excuse to ask for more money (which seems to be their reason for existence because protecting the homeland doesn't appear to be).

#6 Everything is view by the Puppet Show through a political lens above all else. After the bruising visuals of the Afghan withdrawal, leaving a Black African Nation in failure, after spending millions uselessly, would provide bad optics for the election. So, bury the story, leave the troops in place and muzzled, and put a lid on reporting. In classic DoS fashion, they will try and buy time with pallets of cash in some phony-baloney cover story until after November 5th.
