#1 The Russians dont have to be victorious to win this war. Sound wrong but listen, Russia will slog through this. Wasting lives, burning through resources, and burning the Ukraine into submission. Russia's propaganda machine has turned the west against him, America is tired of spending it treasure on a president that buys yachts, focusing on the boats and forgetting about the lives Russia slaughtered. When the money finally dries up, and it will, Russia will take the region they wanted and negotiate for peace only to reinvade in a few years and take the rest. Its is just their way.

#2 ^Well, Ukraine can't be an independent country (see the last 30 years, and then the last 500 years). History shows that Ukrainians are better off under Russian rule than anybody else's. For one thing, these of them who don't share Ukrainian mentality can become Russians.

Then why are the Russian soldiers robbing appliances, vehicles and electronics from Ukrainian homes to send back home to their families?

Even Putin, when he had to leave East German post after the Soviet Union breakup, took his appliances with him.
