#2 My neighbor's hybrid died on the freeway at 100K miles because the main battery had a failure, even though the 'starter' battery for the gasoline powered motor (and that motor) was working just fine.

I must have missed that almost all hybrids either just quit, or won't even start, if the main battery fails. Always thought that the gas engine would always run, but apparently not.

#3 I'm sure that "feature" could be bypassed, but then you'd have an underpowered vehicle dragging around a huge unnecessary weight.
