#1 The Soviet Union had lots of tanks at the beginning of WWII. Outnumbered the Germans by 2 or 3 to 1.

But they had poor maintenance, troops not completely trained, not well supplied, problems with refueling

(sound familiar)

#3 Last I saw they were making 20 new tanks a month and reconditioning about 70 old tanks. Maybe they can cut a lot of corners and get those numbers up, but only temporarily. There are only so many old tanks in storage. And even if they do get to 1500, they are losing tanks at a higher rate than that.

#4 Reminds me of the Detroit Big Three in the 60s and 70s pouring out numbers on the production line and sticking the dealerships with fixing the poorly assembled or designed crap. Then the oil embargo introduced the American market to gas efficient Japanese cars which were assembled and shipped right the first time.

#5 Industry here as in EU has disappeared so a massive rebuild will take years to produce materials at the levels currently Russia is now producing. West proclaims Russia running out of missiles , ammunition's and so on but they pound on relentlessly. So Ukrainians field a little of this and some of that but never enough to overcome Russia.
