#2 France is truly blessed. Sure, geography arguably played a huge role in its development with rivers, canals, and two seas to aid in trade, but areas such as the Loire Valley, the Alps, Brittany, the vineyards....so nice.

#3 Fortunately outside of Channel ports and major cities, most of the 'migrant' and unassimilated population have avoided these quaint parts of France.

#4 /\ The 'migrants' are tethered to government services which are more available in major, sanctuary cities.

Yes, a familiar trend here as well.

#5 Rural folks can be very welcoming. Or not, depending on how the outsiders behave in their communities.

#6 Paris has beautiful buildings, cultural sites and truly obnoxious people.
The villages have common folk that are common: some nice some not.

#7 I must say I've never had a bad, rude experience in Paris. And, I didn't even have to dodge any dog poo when I was there.

#8 If I must be in the capitol of a former empire, I much prefer Vienna, which seems now relieved to be comfortable rather than important, while London is currently a center of finance, which gives its cleverer residents adequate scope for their abilities. One may be assured that one cannot eat badly in Paris, but I have done so — and resentfully served, too.

In Normandy, for instance, upon exiting a three star restaurant I was stopped so that the trailing daughters’ table manners — at the ages of 3 1/2 and 5 — might be praised, which would have endeared the entire village to me even were the meal not exquisite and well served.
