#6 The Sudetenland comparison's not even close. This was Tatar / Cossack territory for centuries. Russians arrived mainly in Catherine's time at the end of the 18thc. and later in the 19tg c. after Englishman John Hughes established steelworks to exploit the vast coal reserves.

The Russians who bear the most blame for destroying the Donbas industrial region and causing the current mess are Trotsky and Lenin, who first aligned with and exploited Nestor Makhno's Anarcho-Communist (sound familiar?) movement to defeat the White forces in the Civil War and then demolished their useful-tool allies in 1920.

Which pattern the Ukrainian crazies seem destined to repeat again and again: side with a "liberator" and then get crushed by him.
