Justice Sonia Sotomayor even said at one point that the Supreme Court comes up with decisions all the time that aren’t directly grounded in the Constitution.

Then those members of SCOTUS who sit for life and unaccountable to the people demonstrate that it is neither a republic or democracy but the oligarchy it has been for decades.
