But why?

Is it like a handful of Power Elitists are have hinted? That there are too many people and we have diminishing food and natural resources? Was the approaching 8 Billion population number the magic watermark for some type of artificially induced population trimmer, like the Covid-19?

Because with just 5,007,010 C-19 "claimed" deaths in 2 years they'll need another go at it.

BTW: Interesting how Hollywood's 1973 Soylent Green movie plot mimics some many current events.
