#4 Not long ago (2015), Dems were pushing Obama to remove troops from Iraq.

I don't recall seeing all the fuss then that you see now on Syria today.

#5 Pass a Declaration of War, Congress, then it's the President's job to administer it. Otherwise he has no justification for sending/keeping personnel in Syria in the first place.

#6 Maybe Trump should tweet that Obama sending troops into Syria without direct authorization from Congress was unconstitutional and worse than US bombing of Laos and Cambodia and is perilously close to a war crime. Just to see the reaction.

#7 Maybe Trump should carry the case directly to the American people such as FDR did in his Fireside Chats. Go on TV and lay out the entire Syria issue and why he made his decision. We're only talking about a small number of troops being pulled out. Someone here said it something like less than 50 troops. We have not left the Kurds down. We have trained, and provided arms and intelligence to the Kurds. I have heard some say these troops are also trip wire? I'm sure these troops will find relief in that. What happens if we have another Benghazi? I’m still looking for an explanation on Benghazi that isn’t lies and complete B.S.

Can Pelosi or Schumer or the Pubs who sided with the Dems make a cogent case for not pulling out?
Trump was elected by people who are tired of Washington games. They are tired of wars and tired of lies. They are tired of not being well-represented in DC. They are tired of crooked, elitist politicians who enrich themselves at the expense of the taxpayers…and then lie to cover up their wrong-doing. Trump was elected by ordinary Americans as a response to all this. The response to pulling out a small number of troops only highlights larger problems in Washington. We’d be better- served by focusing on and cleaning up our own problems such as the corruption and criminality in our government instead of focusing on regions that clearly hate us (as they have often expressed) and don’t serve our national purpose.

We were only supposed to be in Syria for 30 days. We have been there for a few years now. Someone here said that Trump should have forced Congress to declare a war in that region if they wanted to keep the troops there. When was the last time we declared a war? Wasn’t it WW II? If people are so hawkish on a war, declare it, wage it, and win it and come home. The country pays a huge price in these endless, aimless wars. Many people who benefit from such wars are not the same ones who fight the wars and pay the price of these wars.

Maybe we need a rededication to our Declaration of Independence.

#9 Right now, our tendency is to pretend not to intervene, with less than sufficient force to win, for aims that are poorly if at all articulated and with little cost to the enemy.

If we intervene, it should be swiftly and with devastating force, and aimed at exacting a heavy and very painful price.
