#2 Seriously: if only to ward off professional malpractice and liability suits, I sure as hell hope the ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) does not award these jokers engineering accreditation for their BS watered-down STEM curriculum.

Put it another way: Would you willingly drive across a bridge designed by an engineer who couldn't meet the standard for basic STEM course mastery?

#3 Yet another proof of the power of the race industry to get the institutions of western civilization to abandon principles and cower. We are so done when hard science caves....

#4 Well, that's mighty white of Stanford and racist. Employers will look at minority Standford grads as an inferior product and they will be right.

#5 Titus nails it.

These poor kids are the biggest losers. Stanford is just creating a time bomb here. See Clarence Thomas's furiously bitter comments about his Yale degree.

This is really despicable.

Bad all around, and also a truly terrifying trend.

#6 The left is enabling and creating a permanent underclass.

They never lost their taste for keeping people powerless and under them.

#7 Would you willingly drive across a bridge walk across an pedestrian bridge in Florida designed by an engineer who couldn't meet the standard for basic STEM course mastery?

#8 The rules of physics and engineering are unforgiving. They don't care what color, gender, or anything else you are.

Someone once posted something that their daughter (a chemical engineering major) sent them. It said something to the effect that if you can't handle the math, choose a different major. Otherwise you will end up killing someone someday.

#9 Will it affect their employability though ?

I think it's a good thing. It's as close to segregation as they can get without lowering their standards for normal students.
Goddamn I'm sooo racist.

#10 How many civilizations survived rewarding failure and punishing success? /rhet question

[Interesting how the Left moved from condemning the 'Bell Curve' to embracing its findings to implement these programs. If the book was racist then their actions are as well.]

Why not? You go to a Paki MD.

#13 Dron66046, I like the way you think! I was hiring a technician in my last job, but was prohibited from looking at transcrpts.

#14 Physbonics?

Or maybe "e=mcsquaredbonics"

#9 Will it affect their employability though ?

The SJWs that dominate HR departments will ensure that they still get jobs and are showcased on brochures.

They just won't be given any real work to do. But they will get paid and hold a place that could have gone to a qualified person.

#11 Now for the terrifying part: it's spreading. Read Heather MacDonald's masterful survey of this truly alarming trend.

Remember when the left "fucking loved science"?

Poor nerds. All that sucking up to the poz, and now they're getting thrown under the bus for the sake of feelz and for folks higher up on the grievance pyramid.

#7 Would you willingly drive across a bridge walk across an pedestrian bridge in Florida designed by an engineer who couldn't meet the standard for basic STEM course mastery?

Failing to do so will be designated a hate crime.

Check your "not wanting to die or be seriously injured" privilege, honky.

#15 This course will not last. They can't do anything that provided metrics that go against their ideals. What they really should offer, if they actually you know, cared about people, is a prep course for them to help them take the regular course.

#16 "Sir. You're stopping in the middle of exit 9. Is something wrong ?"

"I'm not crossing that bridge. And tell everyone to get off it !"

"Pray tell, [testily] have you just had a vision or something ?"

"No. Read that plaque !"

This bridge made by Braggo Enterprises Contractors.
Inaugurated by Mayor Akbar Goering, Oct 9,2018

#17 What could go wrong?
Posted by Procopius2k 2019-08-28 19:07||   2019-08-28 19:07|| Front Page Top

#18 Silentbrick, the problem is that there are people who, no matter how many prep courses they take, just don't have the mental capacity to be engineers/scientists/programmers. Those people come from all races, sexes, and countries.

I have been having this fight at work. My boss's boss says that we instructors should be able to take a Starbucks barista and turn them into a programmer - in 6-10 weeks. If they fail, it must be the instructor's fault. I've tried to point out that there is a reason that programmers make more than Starbucks baristas - it's called supply and demand. Not every one can be a programmer. Some people just will never get it.

I've stopped caring because I will be retiring in four months. I really feel sorry for my colleagues.
