Imagine his target audience - the Davoisie, the NPR-listening-pseudointellectual class, and the publicly employed.

All of those groups now have anxiety-free income streams, and get their "news" from outlets that black out any item or fact or story that might show the failures of leftist politicians and their policies.

So when he says this stuff, they swallow it hook, line and sinker. Because for them, things really ARE like that.
