#1 I would say it is more of a cultural problem. There is a reason that poverty is passed from one generation to another in this country and it isn't because of lack of opportunity.

#4 Government can't provide you salvation, government can't save you. … Ultimately, salvation is something you accept yourselves.

Call it racial, cultural, or spiritual…whatever. Paul maybe off on somethings but he’s spot on this one. Government dependence is at the root of much of the poverty in America – and by extension crime. And it’s a pretty good counter message to…Hi, I’m Hillary Clinton…vote for me and I will solve all your income inequality problems.

#5 In one sense, all crime is a spiritual problem but I don't think you want to redefine the reasons for crime in this way--a person's lack of morality is not an excuse for their crime. They broke the law. I can see criminal defense attorneys jumping on this defense. Next, they will be asking the churches to intervene in the criminal justice system. That sounds a little too much like either a wrist slap or in the other extreme, Sharia Law.

#6 I've been noticing lots of people piling on to Paul. Well, nuts to them. What Paul did was epic. He's a hero. He might otherwise be flawed, but who cares? I'd take 1 Rand Paul over 20 John McCains.

#8 Calling cultural issues race issues has been the game for some time. Easier to call someone a racist than right. The real problem with black culture is they vilify anyone that tries to escape through hard work and education. It's fine if you are super-talented though, so everyone bets it all against the odds. Then when that fails what have you got?

#9 Iblis, I can't vote for Paul now, he's said too many stupid things. However, I agree I'd take 20 Rand Pauls to 1 John McCain. I like Rand out there injecting thought provoking comments and making folks think about things, I just don't want him President.

#10 Ditto on #9. I like idea men/wymn, outside the box thinkers. Great to have a beer with, inspire dialogue, a serious contemplative moment, a good laugh. President of the United States.... mebe not.

A little longer on the braai, no dripping blood, perhaps additional seasoning.
