#1 At this point, why would anybody actually want any part of Venezuela? The oil is nearly worthless (heavy, sulfurous), and they don't produce anything you can't get cheaper somewhere else.
I realize the oil companies lost a lot of money down there, but sometimes you just have to write off and move on.

#3 Yes, but its been done so incompetently that you first have to suspect the WH. Why? Because Venezuela is such an obvious model of failed Marxism and central planning its an embarrassment. Try selling tainted Chinese candy to people. Once the word is out, the market tends to shrink.
