#1 That's a nice state you have. If you don't tow the party line, something could happen to it.

This is how the federal government has browbeaten the states into giving up their powers and subjecting themselves to its will since the 1930s. Long past time for the States to stand up to the feds.

#8 Only Obama would stop Congress from sending appropriations directly to the states in case of natural disaster, in preparation or after the event. Then they can play the blame game for hating the poor unfortunate victims of natures' vagaries on anyone who obstructs it.
