#1 Sensei: "I prefer simpler definitions".
Chela: "Good vs. Evil?"
Sensei: "No. Us vs. them."

#2 They seem to focus on the sack of Jerusalem, sort of ignoring that's how they, the Europeans, behaved at home to everyone else they dealt with. Missed in their selective history is the contemporary campaigns of the Mongols who didn't sack as much as level and kill everyone in any village, town, or city they took to. Then would go back a week or more later and catch anyone who hid in the first obliteration for the same treatment.

#4 Imagine how much better the world would be if the French and British avoided the 100 years war and instead sent those troops across Muslim Spain and North Africa. They could have rolled by the conquesta fairly easily. They were some hard core fighting bastards during the 100 years war. Shakespeare could have written about King Henry V and his great speech at the battle of Tobruk.

Imagine if the Spanish, flush with gold from the new world avoided fighting the heretic protestants and instead hired them as troops. Avoided the 30 years war and rolled back Islam.

By the time teh west finally conquered North Africa to end the slave trade they were too civilized to force conversions and really change the cultures. And we still get grief for all that.

#5

During the third crusade, Richard the Lionhearted of England informs Philip of France, Frederic of Germany, and Leopold of Austria that he agreed to do an interview with someone named "Brian Williams" and that he will return shortly...

The lies about the crusades are breath-taking. I agree about the comment about the English and French fighting one another when their energies would have been better put to use elsewhere...
