#3 My father in law was exec officer on the ship on the early 60's. It's now at Patriots Point in Charleston SC. The wife and I went to a couple of the ship reunions with him and I've met some of the crew that were in that fight. AP is right on from the stories I heard.

#6 I recommend The Twilight Warriors, Robert Gandt. Focuses on the airmen on both sides, but includes all events around Okinawa, such as the charge of the Yamato.

I was wondering that too Bobby; I read Malta Convoy, a good read for a air/road trip. Ridiculous.
