#5 The Morsi backers were armed and probably fired first. Saw a photo of at least one 'petrol bomb' being deployed, too.

Security forces did what they needed to do.

#6 Given the existent economy and sanctions on the sitting government, the kinder gentler tools used by 'rich' Western countries are not available or practical. They just use the old fashion (re:historical) means of dealing with (as previously noted concerning the Copts) other death dealers.
