#1 Asli, who was shot dead in the street outside the jewelry store, had been convicted 14 times in juvenile court, according to Eric Bedos, the Nice prosecutor.

Sounds like he was a deader walking. Had to shoot him, the only way to stop him.

#3 According to the article, he shot the kid in the back as the kid was escaping. This is different from getting the drop on someone. Even in the US, the jeweler would probably face charges.

#6 "I'm convinced that he fired to kill his aggressor. When he fired, his life was no longer in danger," the prosecutor said.

That is logical, and you are saying that is a crime. As well as admiting the store owner's life was in danger after all, idiot.

Perhaps, but shooting the perp serves as an admonishment not to do it again.

Some US jurisdictions have felony murder - you commit a felony, someone dies, you're guilty of murder. By my tenuous grasp of legal principles, the robber is guilty of his own death.
