#2 China suffers from the lack of a moral rudder. The communist suppressed not only religion as the west understands it, but also Taoism and Confucianism. Think of baby formula poisoned with melamine. Think what they might be tempted to put in the paint of the toys sold to the rest of the world's children.

The people of Taiwan see this distinction very clearly and have little desire to come under the domination of the PRC.

The US, still having a moral compass (no thanks to B. O. and his Chicago mob political machine) should not abandon Taiwan.
