#3 Now that her Thyroid has been removed she will have to take thyroid hormone T4 the rest of her life. There is more to it than just T4. Shame that this happened. Being hypo can be managed. We may see changes in her but if it is managed well perhaps not. This has not been a good start.

#5 A few things:

First of all, maybe CancerSat 1 in geosynchronous orbit over South America, is defective.

Second, radioactive iodine is used to kill off overactive thyroid tissue, not for chemotherapy.

Third, doing a Total Thyroidectomy without just removing a nodule for biopsy first seems a little hasty. These days, some cancer surgeries can take several hours, because they are done very gradually, taking just a bit of tissue off at once and biopsying it, to make sure they get all of it, but with a minimum of healthy tissue.

#6 I'd bet they did a biopsy only. They may have been incorrect about thyroid removal. "surgical treatment undertaken is sufficient". Anonymoose you may have the correct answer. It is hoped anyway. Radioactive iodine can turn a thyroid into a monster for a normal person taking a stress test.
