#1 They outnumber the Shadow Wolves and are equipped with night vision goggles, mobile phones and radios that deliver encrypted messages to drug mules on the ground.

One wonders if Guns and Ammo is the only thing Eric Holder is supplying the Mexican Drug Cartels with...

(Yes I know these are available over the counter - just wondering...).

#3 The Tohono O'odham reservation is the second largest reservation in the US, and if you add the non-reservation territory in Mexico, it is larger than Connecticut. Here is a rough map.

Because it is mostly empty, this corridor reaching from Mexico to Phoenix is the number one access for illegal aliens and drug smugglers, tempered only with much of it being very hostile land, with few roads or water.

The illegal aliens head to Phoenix, and the drug smugglers veer right into mostly open Pinal County.

#4 They seize an average of 60,000lb of drugs a year with a street value of around $60 million (£38 million). It is impossible to determine how much marijuana, and how many illegal immigrants, get through.

They always give us numbers like this as if they think we're gonna believe that they really are trying to stop the smuggling. I don't believe it because there is never any shortage of drugs on the street. I'm all for the Indians but I think they should be the ones sitting on the hilltops and when they see somebody coming across that line they should shoot to kill.

#5 I attended a Tribal conference last year and sat in on a number of security sessions. I left with the impression that the drug trafficers avoided this area for a number of good reasons besides topography.
The "Native Peoples" themselves don't spend a lot of time figuring out where these new founded international borders are. The North American tribes extend from the farthest out igloo down to Central America.
The presentation I saw indicated that the trafficers where pretty much more afreaid of the bad asses who patroled the tribal lands that of the borders patrolled by USA "gentlemans rules" where they will fix your teeth while waiting to send you back to Mexico.

#6 Mescalero or Chiracahua?

Either group can be BAD to the bone when they are put up to it.

I say turn em loose and pay em a $1 a pound for drugs captured and $5 for every ear...
