#2 Public sector workers are going to ride this wave of arrogance until it crashes completely and many (most?) of them end up with nothing.

If they all agreed to a 20% pay cut and reasonable expectations of copayments etc. for health care they could live out their lives without a ripple.

They've forgotten the first rule of successful parasites.

#7 The military routinely has experienced bubbles and crashes, buildups and cuts. 'Peace Dividends' in the 70s and 90s that then became 'Oops' when things turned sour. It's just the rest of the governmental bureaucracy that hasn't experienced it on a similar level. Then again, the military doesn't have civil service protection [up or out is closer to the descriptive] and you really don't want them to unionize [history as not been too kind to countries that get 'lobbied' hard by their military folks].
