#1 Actually Spain's minister of defence is a catalan independentist and a pacifist (yes, she is).

Above her is Zapatero who is crazy as nuts, in love with Islam (all while attacking Christianity) has told that the concept of (Spanish) nation is debatable his country and hates America.

It is highly probable that the officers comanding the base are trying to please their superiors.

#2 Given that Zapatero is psychoticly anti-American and owes his election win to Al Qaeda, chances are the Spanish officers are carrying out Zapatero's direct instructions.

#4 OK, then, I'll ask the pertinent question: Why are the Spanish even in Afghanistan?

#6 What a disgrace. Do what everyone in Latin America but the downtrodden Cubans did 200 years ago: Send them back to Spain. They can be replaced with Chile's Andean troops, very tough hombres, trained in mountain combat, and strongly pro-American.

#7 Why are the Spanish even in Afghanistan?

Insurance for when the next blow out happens in Europe. Unfortunately, the Spanish free rider policy got canceled in 2004.

#9 It's simple, tell them they either get their ass in gear and do it right or they get kicked out of Nato.

Or.....

My preference is burn a few of their officers at the stake and the rest will discover the sudden will to do their jobs.

#11 Well, for now, send someone up to the G-4. Have some 463L pallets and bolt cutters dropped at the very least.

Some Airborne ops may be needed to get some pallets from the Spanish mess trash area to make side walks.
And for damns sake- get them a sat net.
