#1 I agree, abortions is bad for the souls of the unborn. Except chinese abortions, of course. Since chinese have no soul (or, if they have one, it's painted full of lead, and filled with alkali-softened carboard mixed with ground pork fat).

Bottom line, less abortions for real people, more abortions for chinese - problem solved.

#2 there is a theological opinion that the number of living souls has to hit a certain number before the Messiah arrives

this opinion exists in a number of eastern religions (Jain, Hindu, Bhuddist) and jumped into Judaism somehow
