#1 but will it affect the NASCAR race at Richmond saturday night? That's the important question

#2 According to RIR's website, not so far, Frank. They're watching it.

The Richmond area so far is forecast for rain but not much wind. And we can use the rain.

If they're washed out Saturday night, they can still run the race on Sunday.

#3 As long as Jeffy Gordon finishes out of the top 12 in Chase standings you can run the race anytime; I have a case of beer riding on that.

#4 I don't pay any attention, Ret., since luckily the racetrack is on the other side of town, but I wish him good luck for your sake.

I'm just happy that NASCAR brings all that lovely money into the local economy. And that the traffic jams don't affect me. ;-p

#5 I'm keeping an eye on Hanna's track. If she stays east, we should be ok. If she crosses 95, it's gonna get nasty here. We'll really get to see if they've fixed the drainage in the Bottom.

#6 Barb, my little Brother works @ the VA hospital, has tix for the pits for both NASCAR races. Jealous? yeah, since they are free to him (family member of a patient gives them to the VA staff, good on him, for what they do for his Brother)

#7 ...Man, I'm not sure what the heck this thing is gonna do - I'm RIGHT on the western edge of the track as it comes through SC. I rode out one TS on the coast two years ago so I think we'll do okay.

Steve, what's weird is the forecasts I've seen so far aren't predicting that much rain, which is weird. Maybe the 11 o'clock news (just now starting) will give different information. They are predicting 35 mpg winds on Saturday, which is more along the lines of what I would expect.

Guess they'll be running the race on Sunday. I'm not too sure I'd like to be sitting on one of those motor homes at the track on Saturday when the winds pick up - and the rain's probably going to cut down on the tailgating and barbequeing.

I'll test my generator tomorrow morning (never can tell what will happen with the electricity in a storm), take down the hanging baskets on the deck, and tank up the car (which I do on Fridays anyway). Don't see the need for much more prep than that, since I keep emergency supplies on hand at all times.

#9 OK, Jim Duncan just said expect at least 2 inches of rain here Saturday morning (plus of course whatever falls Friday night).

Not in Gaston territory, of course, but maybe a small drainage test....
