I went to see the USMC's Friday night parade at their historic barracks at 8th and I Streets, SE. It's always a spectacular show. This year the "Commandant's Own" (drum & bugle corps) did something different. They played a little Lee Greenwood, but sang the middle verse. It was nearly a lament, and very moving. Most of the Marines will wrap up their DC barracks stopover, pick up their rifles, and go back out to "defend her still today". There ain't no doubt they love this land.
