#1 New editions of flight planning software and civilian aviators’ GPS gear lists the name and the official designation “KXTA” — which online wags have speculated stands for “extraterrestrial airport.”

Someone at the FAA has a wicked sense of humor.

#4 They should have named it, TINALPNLUA.

#5 If this is true then that lends credence to the stories about moving Dreamland's missions to either / both Utah or Colorado.
Another piece of aviation history bites the dust: Dreamland was founded by Kelly Johnson in order to have a place to test the U-2. (IMHO, KJ is right up there next to Orville and Wilbur in the aviation Hall of Fame)

#6 First THE ONION ala BillC, now SCRAPPLEFACE???

And in the vast Pacific blue, a loud "YEAH RIGHT!?" and "ONLY IN THE AIR FORCE!" is weirdly and mysteriously heard.

#7 I wish they had given it an ominous, sci-fi sounding name. Like Raccoon City AB, Herbert West AB, or Totenkopf Research Facility. They could even be enigmatic, like calling it Griffin AB (from The Invisible Man), or a sci-fi favorite, "Wolf 359".

#8 Most of us still call it Nellis, or Groom or Tonopah if you need to be specific about the area.

#9 "Wolf 359"

Um, isn't that where the Borg wiped out a good part of Starfleet on their way to Sector 0-0-1?

#10 Wolf 359 is an actual sector in space. However, it has been used in sci-fi since the 1950s, because the name sounds cool.

It is best known for being used in an original Outer Limits episode, and Star Trek.

#11 I have no problem should they move the secret test/development facility, or should they leave it there (Nevada) as 'Area 51'. The renaming is idiotic at best if done. No matter what they call the site or whether they 'move' it, nothing will cause me to believe that we're other than alone in this, GOD's universe, and what the people of Stephensville and other places are seeing, is just the clever creations and exploits of the USA's 'hidden side'. Why is it so hard for people to believe mankind shares the universe with no others? See: Eccl. 3:11-14, 8:17

#12 I used to work at Groom Lake, for real. I would tell you the truth about it but many of you wouldn't believe me.

Ok, the truth is: THERE ARE NO ALIENS OR ET ARTIFACTS THERE. The rest of the truth is, er, enough to land me a long stay in federal prison.

See, I told you so.

Actually, I think it was given an airport designator because there is some civil traffic between there and certain other points.
It is public knowledge that employees obviously do not live at Groom Lake and also that they do not commute to it in their own vehicles (lest they be ambushed by ufools and other spies), ergo, the civil air traffic and now a civil airport designator to go with it.
These flights are often mistaken for ETs by the credulous masses who surround the reservation on all sides at all hours of the day and night.

#13 Ecclesiastes 3 (NIV):
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
12 I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live.
13 That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil—this is the gift of God.
14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him.

Ecclesiastes 8 (NIV):
17 then I saw all that God has done. No one can comprehend what goes on under the sun. Despite all his efforts to search it out, man cannot discover its meaning. Even if a wise man claims he knows, he cannot really comprehend it.
