#2 I suspect this treatment should be applied to a great many Islamic clerics around the world, though I suppose it could unite and motivate followers to avenge them. It's illegal for American forces to do though.
In this case Beso suggests a Mossad hit; I doubt it - could be Assad's boys or more likely (to me) a contingent from Anbar Awakening who have had enough of AQ's illegal immigrants and are addressing the problem where it counts most.

#6 Maybe the relatives of one of his recruits did it. If you have a son or brother who's a really nice guy but a little slow and easily influenced by authority figures, wouldn't you want to kill an authority figure who fooled him into getting killed in a worthless cause on false pretenses?
