#1 Glad this is over. Hope they send him to his reward, chop chop.

#2 In a civilized country, Akbar would be facing a firing squad at sunup tomorrow.

But this isn't a civilized country: it's an over-civilized country, and this vile piece of human waste will likely spend the next thirty years sitting in jail while lawyers from the ACLU and other enemy sympathizers work tirelessly to get him sprung.

#5 Post-civilized. Yep, that works. It also suggests the question, what will post-post-civilization be like?

I'm not sure I want to know...

#6 perhaps you've seen my movies "The Postman" and "Waterworld"? In a post-post civilized society they'll make LOTS of money

#7 Don't be too sure that they are going to broil this piggie. The last US Army execution, I believe, was in 1967. Typically, executions are done on the same principle as the UCMJ: not out of any sense of "justice", but "to preserve good order and discipline in the Army." So you get wildly strange sentences. In a case of sodomy followed by homicide, the soldier might typically get 4 years for homicide and 6-10 for sodomy. Ironically, his court martial trial would probably be fairer than a civilian trial. But this soldier will only be executed if it *helps* "good order and discipline". For example, Pvt. Slovik was executed as much to be a warning to other possible deserters, as because he was a dumbass. The Malmedy massacre made his execution moot, so they offered him an easy out, which he repeatedly refused, basically insisting that they execute him.

#8 I thought Pvt Slvik was executed to keep him from betraying the country on West Wing

#9 Having served on general court-martial panels, this sure looks like an easy decision - conviction, followed by execution. But - I am concerned about it just being a murder charge - he will likely get the same penalty as other military murderers - which is not execution.

I would much prefer to see the charges read "treason in wartime" - how much more can you do to aid the enemy than wage war on your own fellow soldiers on behalf of the enemy.
I hope this piece of shit gets the Danny Deever treatment. Then again, if he's sent to some place like Leavenworth, there's probably at least one "lifer" there who will step up and do the right thing - exterminating this cockoach.

#10 LR - "motivated murder to oppose your country" = treason - good catch

#11 I suspect the folks at Leavenworth will be in no hurry to terminate the life of their soon to be Big House Bitch. When everyone's had fun with him and his sphincter is bigger than his mouth, perhaps he'll expire...or not.

#13 He probably will die in prison of natural causes. There have been far worse crimes comitted by service personell and they have been executed. But then Bush might want to fasttrack this guy to the gallows. If they are looking for volunteers to put this dog down I am available.
