#1 Yeah, yeah. What exactly did Powell achieve? Did a fine job defusing Indo-Pak, but I don't see any other accomplishments aside from making himself look good in Bob Woodward's book, smirking and winking to MSM journalists about how he disagreed with his president's policies, and getting the disastrous 2nd UNSC resolution, the one that resulted in his complete humiliation by the French popinjay. He argued against halting fascist slaughter in Iraq as he had done earlier reagrding fascist slaughter in the balkans. He did absolutely nothing to improve his administration's image in Europe.

In sum, a sh*tty performance by the most feckless Sec State we've seen in a long time.

#2 In sports, it's called the All-Airport team. Looks great walking into the hotel, all the fans love him, talks a great game, but when you look at the stats, there's no there there.

Can't remember who mentioned this, but a year ago, a journalist stated that when you talked to Rumsfeld you heard a man with a true vision of how he wanted to transform the Pentagon while Powell mouthed "boilerplate" (his quote).

No great loss.

#3 I think General Powell missed the golden ring back in '96, he'd have beaten Clinton. Recently he's just comfortable taking orders. :(
