#1 I still say it was an inside job to get sympathy for the anti-war crowd from the Italian community that isn't already anti-war. And AWZ is playing Blair like a bass fiddle with Bigley. He'll be a dead man before Tony's speech is over.

#2 Great for them; whatever happened, it sure was counterproductive for the hostages takers. According to what I've read, there was something of a national unity around Berlusconi during that time, the acknowledgement of the terrorists having no "liberation struggle" excuse (an anti-iraqi war editor said that between an Iraq ruled by the USA and an Iraq ruled by thugs he gladfully chooses the USA), that they were ennemies of the civilized world,... of course, this will certainly cease now that they are free. Berlusconi 's firmness really has been appreciated, as was Italy's active yet "decent" negociations (a 1 million dollars ransom was most certainly paid), using mostly Jordan's secret services - as opposed to France reaffirming it stands on the arab side, and begging the muslim brotherhood, being supported by the hamas or the hezbollah...-
