#1 I'd guess that crack about it being "good for the country" means they don't think they're strong enough to face down the ayatollahs yet, but that when they do, they're going to give it a try.

#2 I think that day is coming soon, and I do mean soon as in months, possibly even weeks. As pictures from Iran are showing (check InstaPundit for one), pro-American signs are beginning to be openly carried in street demonstrations. Seeing a "REFORMISM=USA" sign in an Iranian demo almost made my teeth fall out, I can tell you.
