Belated and still foolish about labels, but catching on, nonetheless.

I hope there are millions more, just like her. Such as the 59,028,109 piss-swilling jerkoffs who voted for Skeery.

Some people get it, realize what's important, and adjust to a constantly changing reality. Some are infantile assholes who won't change, won't accept that their worldview has been rendered not only obsolete, but dangerous Pollyanna gibberish, and won't help with their own survival, much less that of our nation. Why? Simply because they would have to admit that they've been stupid tools... even when it's obvious to everyone. We had a close call in 2004. When the survival of Freedom is at stake, taking anything for granted is suicide.

#5 I think quite a few of the Democrat rank & file are getting it-- they're part of why Bush won last year.

The revolt of "Security Moms" like the Anchoress's neighbor is a serious problem for the Democrats. Had they made a deliberate, tactical decision back in 2002 to vigorously support the GWoT, and at the same time come up with a comprehensive suite of liberal domestic programs to keep their base happy, people like her would not talking today about voting Republican.

But a far worse problem for the Dems is when people start asking themselves, "OK, my party leadership is full of shit on the war; I wonder what else they've been lying to me about???"

The Democrats absolutely cannot afford having any significant number of their constituents start questioning the core assumptions that underly their support for the Party. Once they do, the Party is fucked.

#6 The Anchoress writes very good fiction. Her neighbor is a composite of a democrat with views she "wishes" democrats would say about their party. She basically is saying that democrats should act like republicans, shut the hell up and rubber stamp everything President Bush does.
Sorry, it doesnt work like that.

Whats really funny is where she says the neighbor says she could "never be a Republican" & calls Republicans "spineless", then criticizes them for getting rid of Trent Lott, who she praises because he has "balls". She then
says Senate Majority leader Sen. Bill Frist has "no balls"...

Like i said the Anchoress writes good fiction.
I believe this who scenario happened in her imagination, not real life.

No, we're not cleaning up Cassini. We have other ways of handling Kos Kiddies who wonder in here: debate, reason and logic, all of which tend to befuddle them.

And we (I at least ) will NOT cheer al-Qaeda to nuke an American city, any American city. The liberals in Berkeley are still Americans, even if they wish they weren't. I don't want another American killed by a terrorist, and I sure as hell don't want an American city nuked.

#11 Y'know, no mo uro, your nym sorta bothers me - in the same way that others are bothered by my view of Islam.

I am convinced that writing off all of Europe, which your chosen nym rather implies, is off the mark. We used to have an amazing poster here who called himself TGA. It stood for True German Ally. And there was no doubt he was, indeed, all he purported to be. I suggest that there are legions of sensible people behind the Dhimmi Curtain (Like that? I made it up just now.) who will, when their idiot leaders are exposed as such, choose to fight dhimmitude. They were raised to think - so I believe they will see through the BS, eventually.

Sure, they're enjoying the fat 'n happy first stage of socialism - when the Nanny State gives you so many goodies and it looks like Nirvana has come. But we all can see the writing on the wall, if we but look. The goodie giveaway has a price tag which will come due in an economic decline which only raw capitalism can reverse. There will be many casualties in the doing, too.

Additionally, dhimmitude will not suit those with a functioning brain, for it can only exist and succeed where these have been drilled out of people or where they are so outnumbered as to be prisoners. Indoctrination from birth works best, of course - it is the least expensive option to the Mohammedans. Enforced servitude requires heavy oversight and vigilance - sapping the expansion forces available. I suggest that those who do submit will present their incoming Masters with serious problems.

But I believe many will not submit. Will they wait too long? Only time will tell... but there will be sensible people who refuse and will assist in throwing off the servitude - and fight the onslaught of Islam. It's a creeping menace in some places, and an openly bloody conflict in others. Whichever they face, many will fight back when their visions of socialist Nanny State vaporize in a collapse or takeover of government.

I want those people on our side - so I'm not much enamored of your nym. They've chosen bad leaders. We almost did in 2000 and 2004. Tiny swings in the vote would've done it. So arrogance is a luxury we do not have - and should not swagger about presuming we do.

As for those who are, what, uncomfortable (?) with my less charitable views regarding those in the Islamic thrall? What is different between them and the Euros who I do not wish to "write off"?

Easy. The vast majority were born to Islam. The voluntary conversion rate is very very small compared to the takeovers and those born to it, I believe. Those born to it know nothing else, in large part, and will not give it up even when they do get a taste of our world - as I have observed first-hand and posted on in the past. Freedom doesn't dissuade them from their comfort zone of the knowns - it often frightens them, infact - and they revert when they come back to the fold, to their comfort zone. I state this as something I learned from experience in Saudi Arabia. Is my experience so limited as to be worthless when addressing all of Islam? I'm not certain, but I believe it to be so. What I saw is precisely what is being exported, so I think my take is substantially correct. I have seen nothing substantial to disprove it, yet. I have seen the opposite, in fact - actions and choices they made which support my view.

The fabled Moderate Muslims are the current darlings of the illiberals. They will not stand up against the "radical" Islam for a slew of mixed reasons. Fear and Agreement are the main ones. Muslim First isn't merely a phrase, it's a tenet of Islam. Read their books. It is all written plainly, presuming the translation is worth warm spit. The inactive Muslims, the so-called Moderate Muslims, are an untapped resource, mainly. There may be a fringe we can nibble away at to reduce the threat, but the evidence suggests it is either insubstantial or illusory. I believe it to be infinitesimal. But hey, in freedom each may believe what they will - evidence, the factual experience we see everyday here and all around us, seems to be of little consequence to some, inconvenient to the personal worldview of others, and just too damned hard to accept for the remainder. I empathize with the latter for they are good people hoping for the best, seeking a middle ground, forestalling the final choice. It sucks to find myself in opposition to these people. Truth be told, I hope they're right and I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

When you digest it and think upon it long and hard, as I have, you reach some rather unpleasant - what shall I call them? Facts? Observations? Views? Doesn't matter, in the end. If we cannot count upon the Moderate Muslim Brigade fighting alongside us against the jihadis, but something very different, indeed: them aiding and abetting our foes whenever called upon, whether it's from fear or agreement the effect is the same, well then - there's no nice way to say it, is there?

It would take volumes to put forth all of the reasoning I waded through before concluding we had to face this head-on and fry 'em up, if necessary, and most have heard some or much of it already and understand me, but there it is. Many have posted very eloquent views, well-reasoned from their experience, that differ from my conclusion. I do not discount them in whole, but in the end I must take my own experience as my guide, as I know it to be factual.

We will have some number of allies among those who were taught to think, who were born to freedom, who have seen what it means - and will miss it when it is crushed under Mohammed's heel. So I'd like to encourage them to wake up, not write them off.

We will see almost no Mohammedans throwing off their shackles and joining us against their kin. Everything about their ideology, it's not a religion, and the Arab society as well, will demand their adherence and loyalty. The Mohammedans will hold their kin hostage - or whatever other means they see available - to guarantee zakat is paid, fodder is provided, and everything from spying, stealing tech knowledge, etc. to suiciding themselves when called upon is there when the Mohammedans demand it. Essentially, given what I've witnessed first-hand and what the evidence elsewhere demonstrates, I've given up on them. Sad, but true.

As for our native asshats, they're playing games. Socialism and such are supported and survive because freedom has provided the means for fools to play at life. Without the security and largess of freedom, they'd be unable to play at Stalinism - they'd be too busy surviving. These people hold no value, IMHO. They're free, well taught, and willfully stupid dolts who couldn't be trusted with their own welfare, much less ours. To them, indeed, I echo Frozen Al's sentiments, though I'd give warning so the non-idiotarians could get out... It's not like the Deep Blue places are homogenous, lol. Fair warning - the idjits won't believe it and our poor brothers and sisters of intelligence will get out before the new sun burns, lol.

Just my take. Some of my most valued friends are among the broad swath your nym derides. Of the Muzzies, well, those that can be saved will get it when the blood flows freely in the West and we begin fighting back in earnest on our own shores. And that day approaches, I think. We will take all who come, but we should not afford them the opportunity to bring the lethality of modern weapons to us, to our shores.

Either we take away the means, the capability, or we will suffer the consequences. Let's fight this pathogen together. I want to hold the door open to the Euros and anyone else born to freedom who might "get it" in time.

.com - well, you ream me for my nym, and it's easy to see how you might. But don't assume that I've given up on every last European. I've read here at Rantburg for a long time, I remember TGA, and I liked his posts. If only I could be convinced that he represents any more than a miniscule percentage of Euros. Don't be offended by the nym - I certainly recognize that there are good folks living in Euroland. It's just that it seems needle in the haystack. I must admit that I think it unlikely EUroland will recover from its emasculated, infertile, postmodern, atheist, lotus-eating, socialist condition, and I have yet to see anyone post a credible mechanism for this happening. Hence the nym.

But I'd be happy if they did find a way out.

#17 I'd also like to go on record as not wishing a nuke to hit anybody. not an American city (what troll nonsense) not an Israeli city, European city or Arab city or anyone else. Nukes are non-descriminatory killing masses of people and civilians.

We are better than that. Our enemy is not and that is a big reason why they are the enemy and why I feel no regret removing said governments from power.

No. But in the same way you just said that Europe shouldn't be written off, I tend to be a little more optimistic than you, it seems. And you know why I say that? Most muslims I talk to say that muslims could not have committed the 9/11 attacks. If this is their De Nile, then maybe, just maybe, they may yet be awakened to the truth, as you say might happen to our European friends. We'll see.

#28 #21 Rafael - thanks for the info. I was really swamped with work through the Fall up to about mid-December and just did "drive-bys" to Rantburg when I could. I must have missed that.

I hope he's doing well. I know TGA must be really busy now if he's connected somehow with Merkel's government, but I do wish he'd drop by occasionally - I miss his insights.

It isn't like anyone actually knows who he is. (At least, not anyone who would talk. ;-p)

Being from 'over there' in my previous life (seems like another lifetime), it looks that the timeline is set by default, resulting in TSWHTF in ~ 5 years and then euros (not to be confused with EUros) will expect us (that is US) to play deux ex machina again.
