#1 Actually, IMO, it's easy to fix Western (not just American) universities. All you have to remember is that pig's ears cannot become silk purses.

To wit: 90% of these students should be in trade school, not college. And all the "professors" pushed up by the need to serve such students, should be on the street selling hot dogs.

#2 Back in ancient times, in most high schools we had mandatory 'shop' for guys and 'home economics' for the gals. Trade skills in wood, metal, drafting, and auto mechanic ran two years for the males. Cooking, sewing, and basic budget for the gals. That was all tossed out to make high school a feeder system for the colleges.

Kill the student loan program. Starve the beast.

I believe you are absolutely correct on this matter.

Further, I believe that many of the research grants from the federal government are designed to promote an agenda rather than to advance science. Cut those grants, save the taxpayers some money and cancel the radical professors.
