A US nickle weighs five grams. 454 grams to a pound, so 30 grams is about... one ounce.

But it seems like five nickles would take a lot of space.

#2 28 grams equals one ounce, Bobby. That’s the conversion I use for baking. Weighing ingredients gives more consistent results, because the same weight might be packed more or less tightly, meaning the same volume might contain as much as 25% more.

i saw photos yesterday that showed the space filled with ball bearings as well as explosive, thought that may have been speculative rather than of one that didn’t kaboom.

*whine* I miss my PalmPilots. I was a late adopter — a hand-me-down from Mr. Wife when his company upgraded him — but being able to share calendars with Mr. Wife was life-changing. The iPhone is barely acceptable in comparison.
