#1 ...One thing that I'm seeing - but not sure how accurate it is - is that the Chinese are competent enough as long as things go according to plan, but as soon as something shows up that wasn't in the briefing, they're on the back foot and stay there.

I'd hope that somebody on our side was having some quiet exchanges of data over tea with India, but I'm not confident.

The "exchange of data" was likely with the Chinese.
