#2 Ruth Veales needs to have her meds restored and her daily visit to her psychiatrist increased to morning and afternoon sessions. Otherwise, medical retirement should be in order... sanity is not her strong suit. ~~nit~~knitting is remedial and soothing for people in her condition.

Veales, the longest-serving member of the Oklahoma City school board, said she has experienced racism on the board each of the 12 years she has held office. Veales said board Chairperson Paula Lewis hasn’t gone far enough to facilitate difficult conversations on race during public board meetings.

Lewis apologized to Veales.

“I apologize to anybody in this district that I did not learn quick enough,” Lewis said. “I’m doing everything I can to catch up. I sincerely mean that, and I will continue to take action after action after action to make sure that diversity is our strength and that we protect it and we affirm it."
