#1 LOL This image really put the squeeze on the first paragraph. It didn't look quite like this in the preview, nor does it here on the comment page.

#2 I'm sure they're temporary, like the temporary buildings constructed during the Second World War that still populate many of our military bases today.

#3 Wow! Thanks for the quick fix. It now looks mah-velous -- unlike the Costco of Diplomacy evidently.

#5 It makes perfect sense. The UN itself is intentionally ugly. Why shouldn't the building reflect that?

#6 Should have put it on a barge in the East River. Then we could have cut them loose.

#7 Isn't there some open space in Brussels, or Darfur, or Pyongyang, or ... anyplace but here?

#8 Heck, make it permanent. That way you know that any meetings there had a purpose.

#9 Is there any end to the abuses the New Yorkers will put up with from this organization?

#11 I remember hearing about a woman in Chicago that found the John Hancock building so ulgy that she lived there so she would not have to look at it.

#12 Isn't there some open space in Brussels, or Darfur, or Pyongyang...

There's an impressive high-rise in Pyongyang that needs just a wee bit of work to finish. I think it would be perfect for the UN as a permanent new home.
