#1 The law classifies skateboards as deadly weapons.

Rittenhouse was attacked by a mob wielding skateboards. As he was fleeing he was hit in the back with a skateboard. When he was on the ground he was hit in the head with a skateboard and threatened with a handgun.

Yet his act of self defense is being prosecuted as murder.
