#8 It makes me laugh all the time when the hispanics here in Texas are shocked at how well my wife speaks Spanish (She teaches it for a college, and to many a student's surprise when they learn she teaches SPANISH and not street Mexican:D, no easy A). She often points out to them that her family is Italian and that Spanish and Italian are dialects of Latin.
