#3 ...I think in the end we're going to find the most likely explanation that he had a horrifying case of PTSD, and that mixed with awful personal problems sent him into a thorough and complete psychotic break. The US military is, frankly, lousy at identifying and dealing with that sort of thing as an organization and individuals - regardless of their service or career field - would often rather kill themselves and others than admit they need help.

The problem is that right now, who would trust anybody in officialdom who came up with that explanation?

I guess I can see the narrative. Seen the shit, got low time TV famous for a second, get ultra-involved in Ukraine, then batshit woman filling his head with how Trump and Musk are going to wreck everything he had worked for. Maybe had the how to advance your hollywood career program hanging on him.
