mission in the country (UNMISS) have combined efforts to defuse tension and avert any major escalation of violence in the Upper Nile state capital, Malakal.

Last week, festivities broke out between two ethnic groups, causing loss of lives, destruction of properties and displacement of vulnerable people in Malakal town.

Majority of those affected were the elderly people, women and kiddies.
According to the CIA World Factbook, the population skews young, with a median age of 19 for both sexes. Only 3% of the population is elderly.
The UN, in a statement issued on Thursday, said the calm situation remains fragile.

The mission, said it will continue supporting efforts to protect civilians and maintain calm through intensive patrols and engagement with affected communities.

The head of UNMISS, Nicholas Haysom lauded the swift and ongoing responses by state authorities and security forces to reduce tensions and keep communities safe.

Army downs RSF drones targeting military areas in White Nile and Khartoum

ese army’s air defences shot down several drones on Friday that attempted to target three military areas in White Nile state and Khartoum.

According to multiple sources for Sudan Tribune, the 18th Infantry Division Command of the Sudanese army in Kosti, White Nile state, southern Sudan, successfully neutralized two Rapid Support Forces (RSF) drones targeting the division headquarters.

No casualties were reported.

The same sources reported that another RSF drone targeted the Kenana air base in White Nile state but was also shot down by air defences. Sources suggest that the RSF launched the drones from the Jebel Aulia area, located in the far south of Khartoum and adjacent to the White Nile state.

The RSF’s targeting of White Nile state came a day after army commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan arrived in Kosti as part of a tour that includes al-Managil in Al Jazirah state, Kosti in White Nile state, and Sennar state.

In addition, army anti-aircraft guns in the Wadi Seidna military area north of Omdurman engaged and shot down two more drones without causing any damage.

the Sudanese army’s heavy artillery shelled RSF positions in Khartoum Bahri from north of Omdurman on Friday.

The army’s artillery shelling came hours after RSF artillery shelling from Khartoum Bahri targeted residential neighbourhoods north of Omdurman, such as al-Thawra, al-Manara, and al-Hatana, on Thursday evening. According to the Coordination of Resistance® Committees in Karari, Omdurman, this resulted in the deaths of at least 40 civilians and the injury of dozens, marking the largest corpse count from artillery shelling in the army-controlled area.

on Friday in connection with last month’s failed coup.

They are facing charges including terrorism, attempted liquidation, illegal possession of weapons and arms of war, and financing of terrorism related to the "attempted coup" on 19 May.

Six people were killed during the attack led by little-known opposition figure Christian Malanga, which targeted the presidential palace and a close ally of the President Felix Tshisekedi.

Army officials say Malanga, who lived in the United States, was rubbed out for resisting arrest soon after live-streaming the attack.

Malanga’s son Marcel, who was born in the US, appeared alongside fellow Americans, Tyler Thompson and Benjamin Reuben Zalman-Polun.

They were lined up on plastic chairs before the judge in the military court in Kinshasa on the first day of the hearing along with the other defendants.

Human Rights Watch has called on the DRC government to accord the accused a fair and transparent trial.

The US embassy said on Monday it had not had access to its citizens to provide consular services. All three have requested an interpreter to translate from French to English.

Many of the charges they face are punishable by death.

...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula, largely made up of sand and oil rigs. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual haj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Formerly dictatorial and steeped in Olde Tyme Religion, deferring to Salafist holy men on all issues, it has now done a 180 and is making a serious effort to modernize, so as not to be left in the sand by its Gulf Arab neighbors. The holy men have been shoved to the background and the nation is now still dictatorial but somewhat Frational. That doesn't make them trustworthy, but it's a start...

Hezbollah introduces new air defense missiles against warplanes
[An Nahar] Hezbollah fired Thursday for the first time air defense missiles at Israeli warplanes that the group said were "breaking the sound barrier and terrorizing children."

Hezbollah said in a statement that its air defense missiles forced the warplanes to "retreat beyond the border."

Last month, Hezbollah struck a military post in northern Israel using a drone that fired two missiles, the first successful missile Arclight airstrike

it has launched from within Israeli airspace.

The group has stepped up its attacks, striking deeper inside Israel and introducing new and more advanced weaponry. "This is a method of sending messages on the ground to the Israeli enemy, meaning that this is part of what we have, and if needed we can strike more," said Lebanese political analyst Faisal Abdul-Sater who closely follows Hezbollah.

Hezbollah's use of more advanced weaponry, including drones capable of firing missiles, explosive drones and the small type of guided missile known as Almas, or Diamond, that was used to attack a base controlling a surveillance balloon has already raised alarms within the Israeli military.

In adapting its attacks, Hezbollah managed to reduce the numbers of fighters lost compared with the early weeks of the conflict, but Israel in response ramped up in past weeks its targeting of Hezbollah fighters and allied bandidos Lions of Islam in cars and on cycle of violences in south Leb

Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
While Hezbollah continues to fire Russian-made anti-tank Kornet missiles from areas close to the border, it has also shifted to firing drones and other types of rockets with heavy warheads — including Almas as well as Falaq and Burkan rockets — from areas several kilometers from the border, to reduce the numbers of fighters along the border and bring down the numbers of casualties. Israel in response struck fighters deeper inside Lebanon, including in the Tyre, Sidon and Jezzine Districts.

. The deadly fighting has displaced tens of thousands of people on both sides of the Israel-Lebanon border and sparked fears of a wider regional war.

At least 15 soldiers and 11 civilians have been killed in Israel's north, according to the military, since the festivities with Hezbollah began.

In Lebanon, the cross-border violence has killed at least 455 people, mostly fighters but including 88 civilians, according to an AFP tally.
