Explosions and fires at two substations in Russia's Pacific port city of Vladivostok leave hundreds of homes without power
2024-01-26
[Yahoo] Explosions and fires have been reported simultaneously at the Novozhilov and Tykhaya Bay substations in the major Russian Pacific port city of Vladivostok, the Russian telegram channel ASTRA wrote on Jan. 23.

More than 250 houses in Tykhaya Bay are without power, according to local media reports.

The Far Eastern Distribution Network Company said that two transformers at the Borisenko district’s Zamiska substation were out of service at around 7:00 pm local time (11:00 a.m. EET). A fire was detected in a closed switchgear, although the transformers did not catch fire.

This report follows another recent incident at an oil terminal in Ust-Luga near St. Petersburg, where precision strikes by Ukrainian drones ignited a huge blaze that continued to rage into the morning of Jan. 21, forcing Russian authorities to evacuate personnel from the terminal of Novatek, Russia's largest independent natural gas producer.

Knowledgeable sources told NV that the attack on the terminal was a special operation carried out by Ukraine’s SBU security service. This facility, in particular, processes fuel for the Russian military.

The same source said that the Ust-Luga Oil terminal is an important facility for the Russians and damage to the terminal will cause not only economic damage to the aggressor, depriving the Kremlin of the opportunity to earn money to wage war in Ukraine, but will also significantly complicate Russian military logistics.

Ukrainian drones targeted an oil depot in Russia’s Leningrad Oblast in a special operation by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Defense Ministry (HUR) on the night of Jan. 18.
